Shikharapur CLC has commenced voucher based EVENT training for the women targeting their self-employment. The “Enhanced Vocational Education and Training (EVENT II) Project (II)” has been implemented between the Government of Nepal and the World Bank on January 21, 2018. The main objective of this project is to strengthen the technical education and vocational training system in Nepal as well as increase the supply of skilled and suitable manpower for employment by increasing access to quality training. The project will place special emphasis on increasing access to technical education and vocational training for disadvantaged youth, especially the poor, backward areas, women, Dalit’s, disadvantaged tribes and persons with disabilities through the inclusive process.
With an objective to empower women, EVENT II organized a voucher system Knitting and sewing training for three months. The training is running in Shikharapur Agriculture Learning Resource Center (ALRC) building from 10 am to 3 pm. There are 15 participants in the training who were selected by the organizers based on online form fill up. The participants are being trained by two certified trainers from CTEVT.
The training will be run for 390 hours. The trainees are almost perfect in sewing and knitting once they complete it. At least the trainee could run a small tailoring shop for their living. Trainees could also get opportunity to have skill test from CTEVT. Once they pass skill test, they are certified and skilled manpower. They could earn good money even if they go for abroad job.
The training is mostly basic level. The trainees could level up once they complete it. The trainees could work in team to make uniform of schools, colleges, women’s group and so on. 100% are women and they are from deprived communities. These types of opportunities help such women to be independent in upcoming days.
As we all know, finding a job is tough in Nepal. So, such types of training creates self-employment and it will be great contribution for the economy of the community.
In ALRC building, together with agriculture research and trainings, SCLC ought to run different youth and women skill based training for the creation of self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Thanks….
