Shikharapur CLC (SCLC) organized a ONE day Animal Husbandry and Insurance training for the farmers of Dakshinkali Municipality. The training was organized with great collaboration with Veterinary Service Department of the Municipality on 20th June 2022. The training was held at Bottle House training hall.
Participants were selected by the department based on the farmers group they have registered at Municipality. The training is part of Youth and Women Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Project based in SCLC Bottle House funded by ONGD-FNEL, Luxembourg.
Total 22 participants attended the training. The training was facilitated by Mrs. Sushila Gaire, 5th Level Officer of the department at the Municipality. Mr. Niroj Shrestha, Program Manager of SCLC welcomed all participants while SCLC project staff Ms. Pramila Waiba (JT/ISc./Ag) moderated the training. Ms. Mina Thing (Admin and Finance Officer) and Aayusha Bhandari (Project Assistant) helped for the overall management. Mr. Shrestha shared the information about project activities and the development of Agriculture Learning Resource Centre (ALRC).
The trainer gave lessons about the cattle, goat rearing ideas, construction of scientific sheds for the cattle, feed management and production, diseases and their prevention. The training also focused on the selection of breed of goat and cows. The ideas shared by the training was much beneficial for the scientific growth of animals. She also gave the ideas of cattle insurance. She talked about the government subsidies in insurance and also discussed about the benefit of this program.
The trainer applied different techniques to deliver her ideas to participants like presentation, sharing, discussion, interaction, case study telling, Q&A etc. The participatory way of teaching made the training more interactive, which is good for the learning of the farmers.
The training went well with great participation of the farmers. The Municipal Officer has asked us for more trainings to organize in different villages. She appreciated the bottle house venue, but suggested us to organize trainings in different wards so that the farmers have easy access and they could save their time for farming since it is peak farming season. She also suggested for at least 3 days training in coming days. In totality, the training was a great success.
