16 Days of Activism Campaign

An annual global campaign called the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and lasts until December 10, Human Rights Day.
The Global 16 Days Campaign was established in 1991 during the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) and feminists from all over the globe to advocate for the abolition of gender-based violence (GBV).

The campaign to ensure everyone in society safe and secure includes the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Given that our nation is deeply steeped in patriarchal beliefs, this day is recognized as one of the most significant efforts to raise awareness and prevent gender-based violence. It will need coordinated efforts from everyone, as well as the complete focus and readiness of the entire community to act quickly and uproot GBV through a whole-of-society strategy, to stop this unacceptable crime against humans.
It’s not only women who is centered but as well as all group of people. WE are the ones who can take action to stop it and stand out for one another. Together, we can do anything.

Nepal Government has also declared its national theme for 2022 as follows;
“सभ्य समाजकाे पहिचान : लैगिक हिसा विरुद्धकाे अभियान”
“Identity of Civilized Society : Campaign against Gender Violence.”

Led by civil society, the campaign is supported by the United Nations through the Secretary General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women initiative. This year, the UN marks the 16 Days under the theme “UNiTE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.
