Utilizing waste glass bottles in construction

Apply low cost and no cost idea to construct eco friendly structures

In 2012, SCLC built two buildings utilizing more than 10000 waste bottles. The buildings now house our farm office and agricultural training center, also known as the Shikharapur Sustainable Farmers’ School, or the Bottle House. The house reuse waste bottles (alcoholic, water, medicine or either) to construct eco friendly bottle houses, which are particularly cooling in the summer months. We use a mixture of mud, sand, straw or long grass (Khar), waste bottles, bamboo, and a stone foundation to construct the Bottle House. The Bottle House has withstood the 2015 earthquake.

Around the Bottle House, we have installed, for the purpose of demonstration, other environmentally sound technologies. These include a composting toilet, a rainwater-harvesting system, a solar irrigation system, and more. You are welcome to visit our Bottle House whenever you are in Pharping.
