Minister H.E. Franz Fayot, Luxembourg visits Shikharapur CLC

“Visit by H.E. Mr. Franz Fayot, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs,  Luxembourg”

On 2nd May 2023, H.E. Mr. Franz Fayot, Minister of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs Luxembourg, H.E. Mrs. Peggy Frantzen, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Nepal, honorary consul general Mr. Shreeram Lamichhane, and a high-level delegation paid a visit to the Shikharapur Community Learning Centre in Dakshinkali Municipality. Their visit was to observe the Agriculture Entrepreneurship for Youth and Women project, which was funded by ONGD-FNEL Scouts and Guides Luxembourg.

The delegation was given a warm welcome by the beneficiaries of different activities organized by Shikharapur CLC, the founders, staffs together with other community members. They visited different sites in Shikharapur where various facilities were provided for the community. They met with the participants of the open school, trainees of computer education, sewing and knitting project, and many farmers who were directly supported by the ONGD-FNEL project.

The highlight of the visit was the Bottle House Project, an agriculture farm house made of bottles. During the visit, a formal program was held, which was initiated by the Program Manager, Mr. Niroj Shrestha. The Deputy Mayor of Dakshinkali Municipality welcomed the guests and expressed her happiness to have the high-level delegates in the municipality. She also handed over a token of love to the Minister and Ambassador.

Mr. Shrestha gave brief presentation about the overall mission of Shikharapur and also the highlights of ONGD-FNEL funded project. A short Q/A session was held after the presentation.
Mr. Shashi Sharma Aryal, the Founder, and Mr. Shyam KC, the Chairperson of Shikharapur CLC, presented a Token of Love to H.E. Peggy, the Ambassador, and H.E. Mr. Franz, the Minister, on behalf of the community.

In her speech, the Ambassador expressed her delight to be a part of the visit and thanked the Shikharapur CLC for showcasing so many activities at once. She acknowledged that the resources were invested in the proper place in the proper way and thanked Shikharapur for all the community work they do.

The Minister was overwhelmed to see the Bottle House and the decoration. He expressed his happiness at being able to visit this organization and meet so many people who benefited from the project. He thanked the whole community and the project team for the great environment that was created for the beneficiaries. He also assured them that the development cooperation would continue.

Overall, the visit by the high-level delegates was a significant milestone for the Shikharapur community, and it was a testament to the positive impact that the ONGD-FNEL project had on the community’s growth and development.
