On 12th of October 2022, Coordinator Ms Cecile Godfroy and ESD Assistant Ms. Anna Berkes visited Shikharapur CLC based in Southern Kathmandu. ONGD FNEL is an organization based in Luxembourg, supporting Shikharapur CLC since 2017. Shikharapur CLC is working in partnership with ONGD FNEL in the project named Youth and Women Agriculture Entrepreneurship Project.
The delegates observed different activities which are based in different centres of SCLC. The visit started early in the morning where they observed the different grades of Open School. They also interacted with participants of open school who come from different villages for their continue education. The guests also observed the Shoes Making, Masking Making, Sanitary Pad Making Entrepreneurial activities done by women trained by SCLC.
The delegates also visited the Agriculture Learning Resource Centre (ALRC) building supported by ONGD FNEL in the year 2022 as an extension project. At this moment, SCLC has been organizing professional sewing and knitting training for 32 women who have assured to do their own business after they complete the training. The training is supported by Nepal Government, CTEVT funded by The World Bank and rest of the fund is managed by a local partner Rukmini Foundation. SCLC is taking the overall management responsibility for the best delivery of training. Our guests Cecile and Anna got to meet and interact with the participants of sewing and knitting training from both shifts. The participants welcomed the guests with Khada made of Nepali Typical Dhaka Cloth made by themselves and also a Nepali dress named Kurti which was also made of same cloth.
Later, the guests visited Shikharapur Campus, Shikharapur School, Montessori building and walked towards Bottle House Project. At Bottle House they got to meet and share their ideas with the women who are members of ONGD-FNEL supported Entrepreneurship Group. Each member has been supported with plastic tunnel, dip irrigation system, technical support, fertilizer and equipment. Each of the member shared their happiness that they are able to earn some money after they got support from the organization. Our guests got to share their ideas, interact with the farmers and also asked their expectation and their future plan with SCLC and ONGD-FNEL.
During the session at Bottle House, Technical Assistant Ms. Pramila Waiba shared about project activities and her role in mobilizing the farmers. Mr. Niroj Shrestha, Program Manager of the project also added many other interesting facts regarding project management. During the formal meeting our guests shared about the upcoming framework agreement, SCLC’s plan and program etc. Each project staff and board members including Chairperson Mr. Shyam KC attended the meeting.
SCLC also managed the visit of the guests to Manamohan Memorial Community Hospital where ONGD-FNEL has supported to purchase Oxygen Plant during the crisis of oxygen at 2nd wave of covid in Nepal. It was partial support by ONGD-FNEL through SCLC. During the visit, the hospital staffs thanked ONGD FNEL team and they shared about the impact of the plant as they were able to provide continuous oxygen in the hospital system, they are independent regarding the demand of oxygen, while they are also able to provide oxygen cylinders to the households in minimum fee where they have chronic patients.
In this way, the guest got the see each and every programs run by SCLC. During the whole day visit, we had good sharing and discussion in each issues and programs.
