Sharing of Accounting Knowledge by Mina Thing

Admin and Finance Officer of ONGD-FNEL Luxembourg support Shikharapur CLC Project, Ms. Mina Thing organized a short Sharing on Accounting Knowledge for the students of Shikharapur Campus. She gave some practical knowledge and information about the general accounting practice. Normally, in Nepalese education system, it lacks practical knowledge. Ms. Thing shared about expenses recording, book keeping, collecting bills, supporting documents and further information about tax systems.

“I learned accounting for one whole year. Since it is not my subject in my higher studies, it was tough for me to learn. But, today I could do accounting and even use Tally Software. I’m very happy that I could do it. And I am very happy for today that I could also train and share my ideas to management students. I thank Shikharapur Campus and SCLC for this great opportunity. Thank you for building my capacity. Further I could not stay without thanking ONGD-FNEL for each support they did for me through SCLC. “, Mina Thing, SCLC

Mina Thing is a resident of Indra Sarowar Rural Municipality, Ward no. 3, Sisneri Village. Due to the lack of regular shuttle service to access to college, she has left her higher studies for a year. But her intense willingness for the higher education always motivated her to see for opportunities. Once she heard about the residential facility for the students from remote area for their continue education at Shikharapur CLC, she visited the organization with her mother. The family agreed upon the terms and condition in staying at Bottle House Project for her study and some duties which she must do. Same Mina Thing has changed her profile in last 3 years. She has completed her 3 Years Bachelor in Arts from Shikharapur Campus.

Ms. Thing is currently working as Admin and Finance Officer at the same office of Shikharapur CLC where she has entered as a beneficiary student. Her hardworking passion, sincerity, and honesty led her to a nice job she liked. Though she is from Humanities and Social Science stream she did hard work to learn accounting. She got some training on accounting, excel and tally software. Today she is able to keep project expenditure records, vouching, accounting, operating Tally software and preparing financial report. Every year she has to present her accounting to Chartered Accountants who come as independent auditors referred from partner organization.

We, on behalf of SCLC, would like to share this news as a success story of Mina Thing. Thanks
