ONGD-FNEL President Inaugurated ALRC-Shikharapur

On 29th October 2022, Agriculture Learning Resource Centre  (ALRC) Program is inaugurated by Mr. Nicolas Magnette, President of ONGD-FNEL. ALRC is an extended project of Bottle House run by Shikharapur Community Learning Centre (SCLC). ONGD-FNEL has been supporting this agriculture project since 2017. It is located at Dakshinkali Municipality, Ward no. 5, Chintaganesh Hills. It is established in a new building of SCLC. 

Mr. Nicolas visited Shikharapur CLC project in a team incorporated with his family,  Project Coordinator Julie Deneve, Project Committee Member, Tanja Ernster. The team visited different sites of SCLC and also observed the agriculture project located at bottle house. Program Manager, Mr. Niroj Shrestha gave brief introduction of each programs. He also described the objectives and plan of ALRC. Mr. Shrestha gave a presentation about project progress and future plan during a meeting at Bottle House.

ALRC program is initiated in collaboration with ONGD-FNEL. It is in initial phase. At this moment, the physical infrastructure for the first phase of the ALRC concept has been ready. The construction has been supported by Ministry of Social Development of Bagmati Province, Dakshinkali Municipality, Local Wards and other well wishers. While ONGD-FNEL has supported financially for the final finishing of the centre. SCLC is planning for the furnishing and purchase of the required equipment in upcoming program with ONGD-FNEL. Local Government will also support this mission partially. 

Within ALRC, SCLC plans for develop a research centre focused in agriculture.  It will start programs which will directly benefit farmers in technical and theoretical way. Following are the objectives of ALRC;

  • To provide training, support, and resources related to agriculture and entrepreneurship via college degree, CTEVT programs, research and information dissemination..
  • To serve as a learning hub for sharing and exchange among communities near or afar.
  • To experiment and develop digital and alternative marketing strategies for supporting entrepreneurship among local farmers and youth.

ALRC concept consists of Information Center/ Reception, Digital Classroom, E-learning corner, Workshop/Maintenance Room, Classroom, Office, Kitchen Space and training hall etc. SCLC plans to operate ALRC from 2023 January.

Lastly, we thank the whole ONGD-FNEL family for the great support they have been doing continuously. We thank President Nicolas and whole team for the invaluable time for the inauguration and creative suggestions.
