“Marking Literacy in the Digital Era: International Literacy Day 2025 in Pharping”

Dakshinkali Municipality, in collaboration with Shikharapur CLC, Uchai CLC, Pharping CLC, Shikharapur and Champadevi Open School, Chalakhel CLC and Campus, local schools, and other educational stakeholders, organized a grand program to mark the 59th International Literacy Day.

The main event featured a literacy rally through Pharping city, accompanied by traditional cultural instrumental musical groups. More than 500 participants joined the rally, including open school mothers, income generation groups, college and school students, alternative learning participants, and community members. The rally began from the football ground in the heart of Pharping and proceeded through historic parts of the city before concluding at the premises of Dakshinkali Municipality.

The formal program was graced by Chief Guest Hon. Rajendra Kumar KC, Member of Parliament, and Hon. Pukar Maharjan, Provincial MP, along with local political leaders, teachers, and representatives of partner organizations. The session was chaired by Mr. Mohan Basnet, Mayor of Dakshinkali Municipality, and featured a special message from Mr. Shashi Sharma Aryal, Founder of Shikharapur CLC. Other distinguished guests also shared valuable insights on the importance of literacy and lifelong learning in the digital era.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks and light refreshments, marking a successful celebration of International Literacy Day with strong participation and solidarity from the entire education community of Dakshinkali.
