“Empowering Entrepreneur Farmers: Integrated Pest Management Training Cultivating Success in Tomato Farming”

Shikharapur Community Learning Center (CLC) in collaboration with the Agriculture Department of Dakshinkali Municipality is set to launch an extensive training program aimed at promoting Integrated Pest Management (IPM) among local entrepreneur farmers. The initiative, supported by ONGD FNEL Luxembourg, will empower farmers with the necessary knowledge and skills for efficient tomato farming in plastic tunnels.

The training program will span over a period of 16 weeks, with weekly sessions organized to ensure comprehensive learning. The curriculum focuses on the planning and management aspects of tomato cultivation in a controlled environment, particularly within plastic tunnels. Participants will receive guidance on various stages of tomato farming, starting from soil preparation and nursery development.

Furthermore, the training will cover essential topics such as the production of Bokashi Fertilizer and liquid fertilizers. Farmers will gain insights into the implementation and follow-up of effective agricultural systems, helping them optimize crop growth and yield. By adopting IPM practices, farmers will also learn sustainable methods of pest control and minimize the use of harmful chemicals, ensuring environmental preservation.

The collaboration with the Agriculture Department of Dakshinkali Municipality further strengthens the initiative, combining local expertise and resources to benefit the farming community.
