ONGD-FNEL – Education for Sustainable Development (ESD-Weeks 2024) Luxembourg

ONGD-FNEL launches a comprehensive Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) program focusing on raising awareness among scouts and young people in Nepal. The program aims to enhance understanding of education challenges in Nepal through learning exchanges and workshops. Emphasizing long-term partnerships, the initiative seeks to empower youth to become agents of change.

ONGD-FNEL, actively engaged in Nepal since 1989, launches an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) program to address education challenges in the country. Through learning exchanges and workshops, the organization aims to raise awareness among scouts and young people.

The strategy emphasizes conveying information about Nepal’s education system through quality activities and direct testimonies from local partners. Capitalizing on past experiences, the program focuses on adapting content to target groups, particularly scouts and schools.

Key components of the 2022-2024 program include informal learning exchanges between Nepal and Luxembourg, emphasizing personal and social skills development among youth. Additionally, workshops and scout camps in Nepal will be organized to sensitize participants to local realities.

The program’s overall objective is to foster a society aware of Nepal’s living conditions and North-South interdependence. Specific objectives include sensitizing target groups to education challenges in Nepal and encouraging them to become agents of change.

Target groups include FNEL scout groups, schools in Luxembourg, the general public, and youth organizations. Awareness-raising measures will primarily target scouts and young people while extending to include the general public.

We are pleased to announce the visit of Mr. Niroj Shrestha, Director of SCLC, and the Program Coordinator of Open School to Luxembourg for the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Weeks, scheduled from April 24th to May 8th.

During their two-week stay, the delegates will engage in various activities, including meetings with stakeholders, visits to schools, colleges, and NGOs working in Nepal. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to explore Luxembourg and other parts of Europe’s beauty through sightseeing.

A highlight of their visit will be the presentation of a Bottle House Video and Animation titled “Lalit and Her Dream,” showcasing the transformative life story of Lalita. This presentation aims to inspire and raise awareness about sustainable living practices.

We look forward to fruitful discussions, knowledge exchange, and collaborative efforts toward promoting Education for Sustainable Development during their visit.
