Shikharapur Community Learning Center (CLC), with support from the Social Development Office, Lalitpur, and in partnership with CTEVT Bagmati Province and Nepal Bharat Polytechnic Institute (NBPI), recently launched two skill development trainings aimed at boosting youth employability and self-employment.
Stainless Steel Fabricator Training:

A three-month training program on stainless steel fabrication was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor Basanti Dangol Tamang. Twenty participants are enrolled in the program, which aims to equip them with practical skills and knowledge in stainless steel fabrication. The training will also provide support for participants to become self-employed and entrepreneurs. The

CLC Chairman, Shyam Bahadur KC, emphasized the importance of discipline and practical application of learned skills. Other dignitaries highlighted the market demand for skilled fabricators and the potential for participants to establish their own businesses. Chief of NBPI, Mr. Bhumaheshowr Ranjitkar, emphasized the significance of the training program in equipping participants with essential skills for their professional growth. He elaborated on the importance of skill development

in enhancing employability and creating new opportunities. Additionally, he discussed the various prospects available to trainees, including access to bank loans for entrepreneurship, employment opportunities abroad, and ways to leverage their skills for financial independence and career advancement.
Building Electrician (House Wiring) Training:

A three-month building electrician training program was launched by Mayor Mohan Basnet. Twenty-three participants will receive free training in house wiring at the CLC’s new building. The program, organized in collaboration with the Social Development Office (SWO), Lalitpur and all wards of Dakshinkali Municipality, aims to address the growing demand for skilled electricians. The training will provide participants with the skills necessary for employment and income generation. Chief of SWO, Mr. Nawaraj Nepal, chaired the event as

the main organizer and played a key role in guiding the discussion. He shared his insights on identifying a feasible market for trainees, emphasizing the importance of government support in sustaining and expanding such training programs. He highlighted how collaboration with government agencies could provide essential resources and create a more enabling environment for young
entrepreneurs. Furthermore, he assured the participants that a structured follow-up mechanism would be in place to monitor their progress, address challenges, and support them in their journey toward entrepreneurship development.

Both training programs are expected to have a significant impact on the youth of Southern Region of Kathmandu as project area of Shikharapur CLC and ONGD-FNEL, providing them with valuable skills for self-employment, income generation, and a brighter future. The initiatives reflect the commitment of Shikharapur CLC and its partners to empower youth and contribute to the economic development of the community.
